yuelin's in apollo!

its a house in hc lol. the one with the little laughing heads with horns! I GET TO WATCH HARRY POTTER WITH STELLA ONG ON NATIONAL DAY CELEBRATIONS DAY!!
yay. but yuelin told me the movie sucked): but i dont really read harry potter and cling onto every detail like some rabid harrypotterfans i've seen, so it should be ok for me hahaha(:
anyway, here's the transcript of the gym presentation i read out yesterday lol. chriselle wrote it(:
GOOD MORNING mr low, mr too, teachers and lovely little friends. i'm here today to make a very important anouncement. on the 19th of april this very year, the njc gymnastics team participated in the national interschool trampoline competition. they trained their hearts out and after lots of sweat and blood the bruises and injuries, managed to obtain 4th place. (something about mr low presenting the prizes) their trophies, unfortunately, are unable to attend this prize presentation. in the team we have: lihui, charmaine ong, chriselle tan, lee eileen, cheryl tan and christina yip, who is not with us today.
on the 13th of july, 3 of our rhythmic gymnasts participated in the national interschool rhythmic competition. though they did not win due to lack of resources, they still worked very hard and we are proud to saw, gave the competing schools some swell competition. the participants are: christina yip, who is not with us today, lim jiahui, who is also not with us today, and charmaine ong.
on the 19th of july, our ONLY artistic gymnast participated in the national interschool artistic gymnastics competition. after months of intense training, she achieved unbelievable results! for the balance beam event, she got 3rd place. in the vaulting event, 2nd place. in the uneven bars, 2nd place. in the floor exercise, 2nd place. overall, she emerged as 2nd overall champion, losing out only to some lame rjcian who's not worth mentioning.
we would like to thank the school and those who gave us their support, and we especially (illegible writing here) give lots of lots to joanne and mr tong, who gave us support all the way. we really appreciate it, thank you!

word size corresponds to volume level lol

anyway, some biAtch (with the finger twiddle thing hahah, yes tiff your bitch-biatch tutorial came in handy ya) and her loyal dog are annoying me): thank you stella and tiff for listening to my rants(: oh tiff, there's an update on new biatch behaviour haha. ask stella! she totally witnessed it the other time ahhaha

you know what!!! julie and dingjie have the pokemon game in their handphones!!!! gahhh i want!

i think mr yong lost weight

mr yong came back to school today after coming back from his run((: he looked like he lost weight though): but he's cool man. poor guy had to run 217km in the hot 51degree weather in california, just like boxer from animal farm, and had this pig expoiting him. cant remember that pig's name): but i know snowball is the good, vivacious, trotsky pig(:
you know, mr yong thinks he's doing his best for singapore and njc, that his effort and toil would inspire and encourage the aforementioned groups. unfortunately, this was dampened by a self interested, insensitive person's manipulation of the whole thing to her advantage): i mean, if you want to do something good to leave behind your mark, then do it with your own effort, not someone else's. besides that, i feel singapore doesnt have much spirit to show for mr yong either. we're all so caught up in keeping up with the world, remaining competitive, having that edge and whatever. we're hardly free enough to start thinking about life and its meaning, what more spirit and passion. but mr yong's cool. maybe i'll buy a flower or something for him.

oh btw there's some soccer player called osama LOL

i saw alyssa no-POK at school today! lol apparently they were having a geog lecture of some sort. pjc was the earliest! they were the only ones in the lt and were worrying about whether they were in the right venue when i came in, and then someone said "oh, there's a someone!" lolll

school's been really tiring): see what i mean about not having enough time?? RECALL: amount of leisure time contributes to standard of living!! sigh. i pity the batches after us, because the education system will only get more demanding. who knows, we'll probably have a country where 50% of the population has a phd in a few years.
poor poor boxer.

weiwei is a crazy gymnast can. she did so many crazy things there and she wasnt even competing, just practicing! btw, i heard from mrs fern that she went to ny poly so she cant compete in the a div gym thing, BUT she's still in the national team!

i was looking through some pictures, and i miss her terribly. you know, once someone passes away, its your whole lifetime before you get to talk to them again in heaven. and if the person's a non-christian, you wont ever get to talk to them again ever. probably. i wish i'd grown up faster. these are my favourite pics of her:

because i am lazy, i shall steal other posts(:

taken from vicky's blog:
chem: around 30% passed, 4 people in the entire cohort of 650 students got A
physics: 20% passed, 2 people in the entire cohort got A
econs: 17% passed.
WOW.

anyway i think we should all look at meltee's latest post.
-----------------------------------------------
I think NJCians are really aware about how Mrs Cheng's really enthusiastic about this whole "Mr Yong's going to tackle death valley" issue, but really, I see it in a very negative light. Its really silly, but the crux of it is simply, I don't see the sincerity in certain things. Heck, I'm just going to blog it. Chances are likely that I'm going to be rounded up in the general office or something.

For those outside NJ, let's put it simply: one of our teachers is going to attempt to run a marathon at Death Valley in USA. Its apparently the toughest route any marathon runner can take. 5 days of running if I'm correct, in 40-50 degrees kind of weather. Oh, with valleys and hills and all that geographic stuff. And well, everyone's excited for him. (Except maybe a handful of us) The school's encouraging us to donate money because he is running for the school. (You know, like moral support?), and as we're supposedly "touched" by his actions, we are to donate, for student development or for the Hard Times Ahead Fund.

Sounds simple? But there are some issues I see.

For example, I simply just cannot stand how Mrs Cheng said to "give till it hurts?" - Easily said than done? I know that's from the Bible about how Jesus was comparing 2 individuals who gave. A rich man who gave a lot and a poor lady who gave 2 coins. Long parable, but basically, the poor lady who gave 2 coins was praised by Jesus because well, that 2 coins meant a lot to her. But she chose to give it away, while although the rich man gave a lot, it didn't mean much to him.

Sometimes I question whether people do what they preach. Anyway, on a side note: my mom always taught me to be a happy giver. Not a sacrificial giver. Perhaps its this ideological difference, but I don't agree with what Mrs Cheng said. I understand her intentions, but really, I disagree with it. Hands down!

"To cheer Mr Yong at the airport like a celebrity, with banners and busloads of NJCians. " Alright. That was the final straw. The donation part was okay, where you provide money "until it hurts" for student development and Hard Times Ahead Fund. But with banners and busloads of students to "flood" the airport is another thing. A press conference? Goodness, where are we heading to?

I question the intention of this. To put NJ on the world map? To glorify NJ's name? It disgusts me to the core. I chose to come to a school that's humble. I chose to come to school that's not elitist. And I was glad, I was really glad I left my secondary school for NJ. The change in environment, the type of status the school potray. But what's this? Where are we heading? To give NJ a better reputation? I'm disappointed.

And besides, what are heroes? Who are heroes? These are people who don't seek media attention. These are the people who sacrifice more than what they intend to. These are people who are humble and find solutions to solve their problems?

It annoys me how this is just backfiring. For others outside NJ, maybe its like some huge big thing. But to me, its a mockery.

Yeah, Mr Yong claims he is doing it for the school and he is teaching NJCians a lesson. Yupp, true. Agreed. I can't deny anything or I shan't question what an individual claims, but really, to do it to such an extent? It amazes me.

Camping out to recieve him? Skype-ing to converse? Alright, have no issue about it.

Basically, it just annoys me how we're doing things to attract media attention. Its not right. Its not how we use to describe a hero. Its just oxymoronic. Pretty much like a paradox.

You see, I don't mind seeing Mr Yong as a hero, but with all these other factors and influence, it just doesn't seem right.

Alright, such are my opinions. I hope it was properly and responsibly done. No speculation, no nothing. Just opinions. Fair ones hopefully.
-------------------------------------------
she's said all that i actually wanted to say hahahah(: so someone else does the work and i copy and paste. oh dear.
yuyan told me that death valley's a bad place to run party because its so hot that one has to change shoes every hour coz the soles would melt. what a waste of money that could have gone to help so many more people around.
btw, meltee, have i told you (that even though youre a little weird) i love youuu?(:

the bloody mosquitoes are multiplying like bacteria i tell you! not rabbits, but bacteria! there're so many of them around and i've gotten so many bites): horrible little suckers): thus, i've gotten myself a bottle of insect repellent (that smells nice, btw) and apply some almost every evening at about 5 plus(: it helps! i wish someone would create some mosquito killing thing that kills them fast and efficiently, like some weapon of mass destruction targeting mosquitoes.

on horrible singaporeans and campus superstar

some singaporeans are HORRIBLE): you just need these to open their big ugly mouths for just a while and this makes even some loyal singaporeans doubt their pride in their country. take sean's blog for example. the link's on the side there-->
sean's been following this singing competition on tv called campus superstar, and he's been giving his own commentary to help contestants sing better if they want to. according to josh, sean sings very well, and josh says it like it is, so believe him. anyway some fans of those contestants come across his blog and arent happy with his comments, and dont like "unqualified" people to comment on their idols. so they flame him and flood his tagboard with vitriol. sheesh. even if they dont like his comments, they dont need to use vulgarities right? vulgarities only serve to make one appear more barbaric, unrefined and uncivilised. you could go read the wholeeeeee thing, just press the little icon that allows you to see previous messages. horrible horrible people. they just dont appreciate the time and effort taken to painstakingly listen to the performances and type each post out. and if any of these idols and contestants read this and actually benefit from it, they dont tag to defend sean or thank him. i'm sure a tag or 2 from any one of them would definitely help shut some of those horrible taggers up. and if they say less, there'd be less vulgarities and singaporeans wont appear so bad. isnt that nice?
anyway, i'm a lazy person, and i shall stop complaining now(:

I <3 LEEYUELIN

Dearest, darling Math:

I sing an ode to thee;

'Math, O Math, why hast thou abandoned me on this
Cold and windswept hilltop?
For I am tired of differentials and
bemoan the lack of round numbers
in mine small, uncertain answers.
For 'certes, I am in need of thee
of thy guiding equal signs in mine life.
Of integrals, shy and virtuous,
modest and chaste, on mine worksheet.
Without them, all is lost, lost i cry.

O Math, do not leave me to wander fruitlessly in this barren valley,
love's labour lost,
for thought is free, and thought is good;
but what is thought without the sweet scent of eraser shavings and pencil lead?
Unlock the secrets of the ruler;
whisper the codes of complex numbers,
sing the song of the sine and cosine into mine ever yielding ear;
Permit me to share in the knowledge of numbers,
the beauty of sequence, series, sigma!

Math, O Math, why hast thou left me on this cold and windswept hillside?
I hear thine footfalls in the abacus,
I see thine genius in the french curve,
I dream thine magic in the mystery of Maclaurin's,
but why, I ask thee, why art thou so elusive, so quick and so fleet?

I wish to understand thee;
To read each inequality,
trace each matrice with mine fingers,
walk with plane vectors and confer with each individual function;
I would measure thine graph,
from corner to corner,
Uncover each intercept, each minimum and maximum...

And yet, and yet, each time, you dodge me,
disappear, vanish beneath that shroud of secrecy,
and thus you leave me,
standing on this cold and windswept hilltop.'

--Yue Lin

she says: Dedicated to all H2 Math warriors!

the girl's a genius. i LOVE LEEYUELIN(:
