bad news
dear cousins:grandma is in very bad shape. her appetite has been horrible, and she goes for 2 to 3 days on only water. she's stopped watching tv and reading the papers and just sits in her chair the whole day. the MRI scan on monday revealed that her colon cancer's back again and has spread to her lungs, liver and pancreas-its stage 4. its so bad that even initially the doctor couldnt even tell what stage it was, and described it only as "massive". the adults have decided not to put her through chemo again as she's too old and they want her last days to be as painless as possible. they cant really tell how long she will last, and a thought just occured to me that we just might be spending my birthday mourning. please pardon me i feel pretty pessimistic now.
please try to visit her as the adults say that company really brightens her day and helps her eat a little. give the food to her in small quantities so she wont notice and lose her appetite. i'm going to bring the cake i made for my dad's birthday over tmrw to let her try some, and we're thinking of trying to give her some japanese soba as japanese food really helps stimulate the appetite. i think. so do that, oh and i want to get her a little flower for her to water everyday
