a little too popular, but i like it(:
well, yesterday was tough!
i was sick, and i had to rush out that M&E contract so they could call tender yesterday. went without lunch and had something to eat after i'd finished, and it was like, 5pm. hoboy, just a taste of what its like to be an assistant director huh. i'm not even an executive hahaha. so well, i spent most of the day at MMD (materials management department) coz they were the ones who woud call tender and stuff. i was pretty weak after all that yesterday :/ but hey i found out that i didnt really mind, or maybe i couldnt really bother, i could keep going and stuff. maybe when youre half dead you dont bother to think(: but it was fun, and the MMD people were really really nice(:
however, the engineers (the people i had to work with to check the contract and stuff) were lazyyyy man. i asked them to check so many times the past few days, they said everything was fine/dont want to check. they only tell me last minute that everything is actually not fine when we're past the damn deadline): like "oh you have to add this in, its important" when i'm finding it so hard to breathe already. their crappy half baked english is also the reason i had to check the contract and edit almost every line. like, they come up with a half baked contract and throw it at my poor boss who's already finding it so hard to meet all his deadlines. i mean, even if their grammar is screwed, couldnt they check for contradictions?
oh ya, there was this senior engineer guy who's pretty irritating (ai ling thinks he's super irritating) coz he thinks he's really smart, so i try not to talk to him that much, his lectures make me sleepy. well anyway, when i finally finished the contract and stuff and told him that my boss needed him to do his part to finish up, he told me "you know i think youre really cute you know? i really think youre very cute! i should have introduced you to my son!" (his son is about 1 year my senior from nj too) and i'm like -_-??? ok, i'm sick, starving, half dead, i'm sure it shows on my face, and he's trying to make new friends for me. right. oh ya his son's going to uk to study medicine. apparently he didnt want to study in nus.
well going on about making new friends, esther, my newly established godmother in the office told my boss that she'd like to matchmake me with her son if he didnt already have a girlfriend): oh mannnn.
i've also been getting a plethora of job offers hahaha. last time it was clinical services, now i've got sister chia asking me to help in her clinic, then i've also got yen who's heading corporatecomm even though her department is already quite full hahaha. oh and finance too. hmmm i'd actually like to work as a chef for fun ahhahaha but nobody's offered me that yet, although everytime i go deliver stuff to the kitchen i get free bananas watermelons and fruits. yumyum
anyway my boss is cool. he's too nice la. he kept asking me yesterday whether he could buy me something to eat, but i had no appetite for lunch coz i was sick): he actually wanted me to take the day off tmrw coz he said i worked very hard, but then there were problems with the contract last minute so i had to come back.
whatta week. at least i can relax now and talk to daniel in the us where its like 8pm(:

yesterday was stella's birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY STELLA! i will always love my h3 math rabbit muchos!
nothing much to blog about except that i watched HORTON with julian soena yuyan and yoosing on friday, went to the not-very-helpful nus open house and watched STEP UP 2 with anna yoosing jean and astrid on saturday, visited cheryl on saturday, and had diarrhoea on sunday coz of the amazing amount of chilli i had on saturday. the 2 movies were good(: go watch. step up 2 was nice coz it showed some nice unconventional bgirling, though the dances overall werent as dope as those in you got served. i wanna see some girls do airflares! hohoho
ok besides that, i've got to go out tmrw with aly, delia, jeanette and wendy i think. and i gotta do applications! so byebye!

someday, i'm gonna learn to make super yummy ramen! and i'm gonna cook it for anyone feeling under the weather that day, and they'll be all right! it'll be called joanne's special ramen for the soul!
something funny happened while i was reading my ultracoolbrandnewcookbook
was in orchard so i dropped into mount e hosp to visit my aunt and uncle. proceeded to yummy yummy coffee bean to fill mestomach and read my ultracoolbrandnewcookbook, and HO, dont we meet the funniest people in the hospital. while i was reading, this (obese) lady sat down at a table next to me and started SMOKING. and why did i put that in caps? coz there's a nice, conspicuous, about 7x7cm, pop-up sign in the middle of the table that tells us that we CANNOT SMOKE. i gag, frown, and cough a bit, and coz she doesnt get the message, i tell her "'scuse me, this is a non smoking area" she goes, "oh ok" she goes on to take quite a few deep hurried puffs of her cigarette (and in that time i happened to exchange looks with a lady at the next table who gives me the "umm, she's taking quite a while to put out her cigarette" look) the smoker lady then throws it on the floor and steps on it): ahhh peace, i think.
after 10 mins, she talks to me.
she: um, you dont like smoking, is it?
me: uh i dont like the smell (resisting the urge to tell her of the evils of smoking and how it irks me)
she: oh i see. you know, smoking is very addictive. its like a drug, you know, like heroin, very addictive. drugs are very addictive.
me: ya
she: you know, i'm trying to quit smoking. i'm here to get treated, to stop smoking. i started smoking in the US, when i was 20. now i'm 42. thats 20 years of smoking. (she tells me her life story, can. this is a shortened version)
me: oh
she: you know i went for chinese acupuncture to cure my addiction, and i went for psychiatric medicine too. so eastern and western medicine clashed and so i'm here.
me: mm
she: cannot smoke here ah?
me: yes, this is a non smoking area, and you cant smoke in the hospital
she: ya. but can smoke there you know? (she tells me as if i'm a fellow smoker and she's recommending a place for me to smoke. she points to this bare area with some ventilation pipes and stuff which,
incidentally, had a 40x40cm large non smoking sign)
me: are you sure? (hint hint, there's a sign there!)
she: ya can one, theres no one there so i can smoke.
a while after we stopped talking, she went there and started smoking
AH WELL.
oh did you hear? results on fry day.
